The Founders

Purcell and Purcell Pty Ltd was founded by the late Margaret and Frank Purcell — two individuals whose commitment to their community and their clients defined what this firm would become. They established the firm in Werribee at a time when the Wyndham region was far smaller, and they grew alongside it.

Francis Xavier "Frank" Purcell was more than a solicitor. He was a community leader, an advocate for the marginalised, and a man whose legal work left a lasting mark on Australian history. His involvement in landmark cases — including his role in advocacy related to Aboriginal land rights — reflected a deep conviction that the law existed to protect people, not just institutions.

Margaret Purcell served as Principal of the firm, guiding it with steady purpose through decades of growth and change. Her leadership shaped the firm's culture: rigorous, client-focused, and rooted in the Werribee community.

"The law exists to protect people — not just institutions."

A Legacy in Australian Law

Deep roots in
Werribee and beyond

The Purcell name has been synonymous with legal practice in Werribee for generations. Frank Purcell's reputation extended well beyond the local community. His work in advocating for the rights of those who had little access to legal representation demonstrated a kind of legal practice that was — and remains — rare.

That legacy is not simply history. It is the standard against which the firm continues to measure itself: that quality legal advice should be accessible, that clients deserve honest counsel, and that the law is most powerful when it serves those who need it most.

Anthony Purcell
at the helm

Today, the firm is led by Anthony Purcell — son of the founders, and a lawyer of more than two decades' experience. Anthony has grown up with this firm: he understands its history, its values, and its obligation to the Werribee and Wyndham community.

Under Anthony's leadership, the team has grown to include Senior Associate Mark Haines and lawyer Samar Yassine — each sharing a commitment to the founding principle that quality legal advice should be genuinely within reach.

The practice areas have broadened to meet the needs of a growing region — family law, divorce, property settlement, wills and estates, estate planning, succession planning, probate, and mediation — but the approach has not changed. Personal. Clear. Thorough.

Wyndham's oldest firm,
continuing to thrive

Werribee and the broader Wyndham region have changed enormously over the decades. What was once a quiet outer suburb is now one of Australia's fastest-growing corridors — home to tens of thousands of families navigating the full complexity of modern life.

Through every chapter of that growth, Purcell and Purcell Pty Ltd has been here. Same address. Same commitment. A team that knows this community — not as a market, but as neighbours and clients whose matters deserve to be taken seriously.

That continuity is something no new firm can replicate. It is the firm's most important credential, and the reason clients — and their children, and their children's children — continue to return.
